Good pan, but beginners beware; it rusts without seasoningMuhammedBought this not knowing carbon steel needs maintenance. It developed rust because I washed it like a regular pan and didn't dry it on heat or oil it after. That's on me, but IKEA should make the care instructions much clearer for first-time carbon steel buyers.
After scrubbing the rust off with steel wool and seasoning it (thin oil, heated until smoking, repeated), it cooks great. Solid pan for the price if you know what you're doing. 3 stars… the pan is fine, the learning curve isn't explained.3
Excellent PanChristineThis is a carbon steel pan. It needs research on its use and care before using it. It is a great pan when seasoned well. Anyone complaining about rust knows not how to properly use and care for one of these. After trying one out, I'm recommending this pan to all my friends and family.5
Very good carbon steel pansRyanI have both the 24 and 28cm pans, they get used almost every day. In my opinion, the only reason anyone would give these a poor review would be they are unfamiliar with how to treat carbon steel pans. This is not stainless steel or teflon cookware. For less than half the cost of other name brands, these work just as well. My only request is they start carrying the 32cm version available on some other ikea sites.5
Satisfied with my purchaseJosephI don’t know why some reviews are not good. Maybe some don’t understand much about carbon steel pans. I can say that the uglier a carbon steel pan gets, the better it becomes. After seasoning the pan, it got uglier but became non-stickier. This pan is not for those who expects their pan to be stain free and flawless because it gets uglier the more you season it. And yes, it rusts because it’s steel. So i don’t leave my pan un-oiled after cleaning it with small amount of dish soap. 5
Ignore bad reviewsPatrickPeople be buying carbon steel thinking it's teflon.
A quick search before writing a meaningless 1 star review would do wonders.
Best value carbon steel in my opinion5
easily get rustyJilleasily get rusty when exposed to water for over 5 mins. Extremely high care attention required to maintain stainless. I’d rather keep it in storage1
Great pan but bad seasoning directionsOliverThe bad reviews on this product made no sense to me until I saw the seasoning instructions: if you follow their directions the pan will definitely get sticky due to too much oil. This a great pan, but for your first attempt at seasoning please use another resource to show you the way.5
Horrible panLoreenWhen water gets in it, it rusts right away. Very odd and weird. Food sticks to the pan as well. Waste of money1
RUST, NEED SOLUTIONKanikaI bought this pan in April 2026. I seasoned it for the first time with oil, twice, and then started using it. But food kept sticking to the surface. When I washed it, I left some water on it, and now it's rusted. I really want to get rid of the rust. I'm just not sure how.2
Works great if seasoned properlyHemantSeasoned in oven. Turned out golden brown after 3 rounds. It has become non stick. Retains heat well.5
Rusty, very bad qualityNavThe quality of this pan is very bad. Rusty after one wash1
Disappointed with product quality and store return policyMadhuI purchased this pan and carefully followed all the recommended seasoning instructions. Unfortunately, after the very first use, the pan oxidized and turned our food completely black.
I requested an express return online, but when I brought it to the store, the customer service agent refused to accept it. They told me they would not take it back because it had been used once.
This is incredibly disappointing. IKEA claims to value customer service, and this product explicitly lists a 15-year warranty.
I hope management sees this and helps resolve the issue.1
Great carbon steel panIsaacThe pan requires some extra attention because it is carbon steel, but it is worth it as it works great once properly prepared. It feels high quality and cooks food very evenly and with a nice sear5
Very 👎 Seyed GholamaliNo steel1
Rusted in 1 use.SunilI’m disappointed with this purchase. After carefully following the care instructions, the frying pan developed rust after just one use. This is not something I expected from IKEA, given its reputation for reliable products.
When I approached the store for a return, the request was declined, which was quite frustrating considering the condition of the item after minimal use. I’m sharing this experience so other customers can be aware before purchasing.
I would appreciate it if this issue could be reviewed and a fair resolution provided.1
Excellent QualityDanielaPeople, you must read about carbon steel pans maintenance. Never, never use soap or soapy water on them. The seasoning is important and after years of use they become the best. These pans have been used in restaurants and households for hundreds years. If it has a food burn, I lightly use a plastic scraper.5
Disappointed Faiz AhamedI purchased this pan just 3 hours ago and followed the recommended seasoning process. Unfortunately, during seasoning it appears to have oxidized, developed a sticky surface, and now looks unsuitable for use. This is quite disappointing for a brand-new product and raises concerns about its quality.
I would appreciate it if IKEA could review this issue and accept a return or exchange.1
Great pan, good value for moneyPhilipthis pan needs to be seasoned before using, and there are lots of good sites that have detailed instructions. It works best if you season it in the oven. When you season it properly it’s great to use - the food doesn’t stick, and it heats evenly across the surface. The enamelled handle means it can’t go in the oven at high heat, but for stove top use it’s great to use.
It’s hard to beat the price for a good carbon steel pan.5
Non-stickKevinProper seasoning before use made this pan nicely non-stick. It has become my main pan, and I keep it on my stovetop at all times. It's very sturdy and should last a long time.5
Love this panDanFollowed the seasoning instructions, works great! Had been looking for replacement for no-stick and great value5
