RUST RUST RUSTPui ChunGot rusty after first use. DONT BUY THIS1
the worst wok and purchase ever !Brigittebought this about 4 months ago and try ever since to make it work without the food taking on the metal taste. I followed ‘seasoning’ instructions to the letter, in fact followed it a second time and can only keep the ‘ protective layer’. for one meal. It cooks seasoned meat beautifully on med heat. It gets really nice and hot but as soon as you add lemon, soja sauce or pineapple ( acid) you have to start to season it. Don’t just wash it, dry it and you will notice you will wipe up rust. If you add a bit of oil and rub it it’s fine but don’t expect to pull it after 4 weeks out of the cupboard to cook. The thin layer of oil will smell old and you need to rinse and scrub it again. It’s a piece of work. I did not enjoy it , and i have other IKEA carbon steel pans. Unfortunately its now only ending up at the Thrift store. IKEA would not take it back, used after 4 months. Even though they must see the many unhappy customers they have due to this failure of a wok. Don’t buy!!1
Terrible qualityUsed it twice and it looks like it’s rusted. Impossible to clean1
perfect wokQiFor those who know how to use and care for it properly, this wok is almost perfect.5
Satisfied with my first purchase JosephI want to cook healthier so i bought the 11- inch Vardagen frying pan first to try carbon steel.
This is my 2nd buy after trying the Vardagen frying pan. The only cons is that this wok had a small flat bottom, about 6 inches same as the 11-inch Vardagen wok. This 13-inch wok should have at least 8-inch flat bottom since it is bigger. Also the handle is covered with wood, so it is scary to season it by baking in the oven. But overall, the pan is excellent.5
Not oven safeMaripierI know how to season. I have seasoned my wok. This isn't my first rodeo either. Seasoning in an oven is 1000x easier than on the stovetop. Don't purchase ANY cookware that isn't oven safe if it requires seasoning. It is pain.2
RustyRichardit’s heavy duty but it turns out rusty after 2 uses. not recommended1

I feel bad for IkeaNorrisIkea made a really great series of carbon steel cookware but it requires the user to understand how to season and use it properly. I hope Ikea continues to make specialized products despite so many negative reviews from people that don't know how to use this type of cookware.5
Great Carbon Steel Value - needs proper seasoningFrankThere's a lot of hate on this wok but you have to season any carbon steel pan/wok properly. For the steel thickness, quality handles, riveting, wood and glass lid this is a great value. TL;DR: You can't season it over electrical or induction, and if you can't season it over a high output open (HOT!!!) flame, don't buy this. If you have a portable butane stove, don't bother either, the flame is too weak. YouTube wok seasoning. Had mine turn to a nice blue patina. Then added a thin layer of high smoke point oil and seasoned it twice over the high open flame. Make sure your kitchen is well ventilated or your smoke alarm will go crazy. Or go get a preseasoned wok somewhere else and pay 2-3 times the price. 5
Great Cooking Results, but Requires Proper Seasoning and UpkeepVenkata ReetikaThis wok is great for making street-style dishes like noodles and fried rice, giving you that classic high-heat stir-fry flavor.
However, the biggest challenge is properly seasoning it and keeping it well maintained.
It requires regular seasoning to build up a non-stick surface, and it also needs careful cleaning and drying after each use to prevent rust. If not maintained properly, food can stick easily and the surface can lose its seasoning.4
Worst product ever!! AtreyeeI bought it without checking reviews and it was the worse mistake. The product rusted within the first time of use in spite of seasoning and using gentle care for cleaning and immediately drying. Tried returning to Etobicoke Ikea but they denied, now raised a return request through the app. Wondering why the product hasn't been recalled in spite of so many negative reviews!!! Honestly, highly disappointed with Ikea. 1
Love this wokCoreyThis wok is getting some poor reviews but it is a carbon steel wok, much like a cast iron pan it needs to be cared for properly. A quick google search will explain all you need to know. It is my number one pan that lives on my stove top. Love it. Cheers!5
Excellent and great value but requires seasoningBillThose reviewers complaining of rust or staining did not follow the instructions provided to season the wok. Then has the gall to review bomb with pictures showing that they did not season the wok (see pic of seasoned wok). What's disappointing is that they bought something from IKEA, a company famous for product instructions, and proceed to complain about the consequences of not following instructions.
That aside, I find this wok surprising good with excellent value. I got the 32cm version which has a second handle at the other end. Weight is slightly heavy than what I had hoped for, but happy for the features that I get: wood handle, second handle at end, flat and solid bottom for heat retention, and thicker gauge steel that should resist warping. I'm also pleasantly surprised it comes with a lid that this price point. Excellent value. Solid buy. I love this wok!
By the way, it would have been really good to know the weight of this product on the website.5
Totally Rust everywhere even I followed instruction.Murat ErdemVery disappointed with this IKEA pan. After one time use, the pan developed severe rust both inside and on the bottom, as shown in the photos. This should not happen with a kitchen product that is supposed to be durable and safe for cooking. I tried to return it, but unfortunately the store refused to accept the return. I expected much better quality and customer support from IKEA. I would not recommend this product unless the rust issue and return policy are addressed.
IKEA- Burlington,ON did not accept my return request.
Please help!1
In the knowRobinPeople complain of this product rusting shouldn't have bought it to begin with. This is a high-quality product that is designed for stove top use with its flat bottom for electric electrical or other when you don't have a proper or dedicated wok burner that cranks out major BTUs season it properly and enjoy a lifetime of use5
Immediate Staining and Bad SmellNataliaI used it once, on induction plate with lots of oil to prevent sticking. Everything stuck so bad I couldn't even cook the food and had to transfer it to another pan. Also, the pan immediately stained on both inside and outside, despite using with medium heat and as intended. Smells very strongly metallic and bad. I will attempt to return as it is not useable and wasn't exactly cheap!1
Amazing!FelipeThe woke is made of top quality materials. Therefore, IT WILL RUST. You need to season it and keep it seasoned and clean it accordingly. Do your homework and learn to use the tools.
The food tastes amazing here, weight and finish is amazing. Very pleased with the quality and price .
Love it! If it rusts, the problem isn’t the Wok, is you. 5
Rusted after one washBritneyReally disappointed with this one - we washed it before going to use it and there was rust on it. Never even got to use it. It looks great but obviously needs a redesign on the materials. Will be returning :( 1
Rust boxAnishThis should be discontinued, Every time you use it, it gets rust.1
