“Home idea with IKEA”
Family living room makeovers
For 15 years, this living room had been at the heart of everyday life for Agnietė, her husband and their son. It was where they relaxed, worked, spent time together and enjoyed their favourite activities. But families change, and homes need to change with them. New hobbies appeared, needs evolved, and the room no longer felt as light or inviting as it once had. What would it take to help the family fall back in love with their living room? Our interior designer Anastasija joined them to find the answer.
Interior designer‘s task:
- Dedicate areas for relaxing, dining, working and hobbies, all within one room.
- Provide plenty of storage without making the room feel crowded.
- Bring more light into the space, as little natural light comes through the windows.
- Furnish a workspace that blends seamlessly into the rest of the room.
- Choose easy-care solutions and make the living room suitable for life with a pet.
- Create a warm, inviting interior with a timeless look.
Spot the transformation!
Previously, relaxing, working, dining and favourite activities all shared the same space. Now, each has its own corner. The furniture divides the living room naturally into different zones, while keeping it open and making it easy for everyone to spend time together.
A stylish space that feels good to be in
The family likes light colours and contemporary design. That is why we chose furniture in a light oak effect, helping the room feel brighter and more spacious.
Lighting for every mood
The living room feels inviting from morning to evening. A mix of general, task and ambient lighting makes it easy to adapt the space to different activities throughout the day.
Let there be order
Everyday essentials are tucked away in closed cabinets, while open shelves display the family’s collections and favourite things. The compact workspace also has room for everything needed for a productive day, from documents and stationery to the printer.
One solution, three benefits
The curtains bring character to the room and provide more privacy, while still letting the family enjoy plenty of daylight.
Furniture that does more
The sofa-bed provides a place for overnight guests, the extendable dining table makes room for a larger gathering, and lightweight or folding tables can be moved whenever needed. More flexibility for everyday life, without needing more space.

“Let your everyday life guide you when planning your interior and choosing furniture. Think about what you’ll do in each part of the room, then make space for the things you love, from books and family photos to travel souvenirs, building sets and board games. Because a home is most beautiful when it has a story to tell, and that story is yours.”
